Can I start a new food business under PMFME?
PMFME is primarily for existing micro food processing units looking to upgrade and formalize. New businesses should first establish the unit and then apply for PMFME assistance.
What food businesses are eligible?
All food processing activities are covered — bakeries, pickle units, dairy, flour mills, spice grinding, snack manufacturing, fruit & vegetable processing, cloud kitchens, and more.
Is FSSAI license mandatory?
Yes. FSSAI license is mandatory to apply for PMFME. We help you obtain the Basic, State, or Central FSSAI license based on your business scale.
What can the subsidy be used for?
The 35% subsidy covers machinery upgradation, packaging equipment, food testing lab setup, common facility center access, and quality certification costs.
Can SHGs and cooperatives also apply?
Yes. Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and cooperatives are specifically encouraged to apply under PMFME with preferential treatment.
